Oldest Everyday Items - Flushing Toilet

The history of the toilet is actually pretty fascinating (to me and no one else). This row of potties was found in Ephesus, Turkey and dates to around 2000 BC. They were designed so that flowing water ran underneath the seats and carried away your kids once you’d dropped them off at the pool. Ingenious.

Can you imagine the stink of a latrine in the hot Turkish sun before this was invented? I can’t and I have no desire to try.
