Huey Lewis & The News — I Want A New Drug 1984 vs Ray Parker Jr — Ghostbusters 1984

Well this starts out as Huey Lewis being asked to record a song for Ghostbusters, to which he declines as he is busy writing for the “Back To The Future” movie. So Ray Parker Jr does the job. Problem being that the bass and guitar riff throughout the song was very similar to that of “I Want A New Drug” which was released by Huey Lewis & The News in the same year. The case was settled out of court on a confidential agreement until 2001 when Lewis commented on the payment during an episode of  “VH1’s Behind The Music”.  Parker than sued Lewis for breach of confidentiality.
