Joe Satriani — If I Could Fly 2004 vs Coldplay — Viva La Vida 2008
When Coldplay released “Viva La Vida” in 2008 it upset veteran musician Joe Satriani. Upon hearing the track Satriani said “I felt like a dagger went right through my heart. It hurt so much,” I am assuming it is because the song was very similar to his own composition “If I Could Fly” from his 2004 Album “Is There Love In Space?” and not because he thought it was shit. A settlement was eventually decided out of court with no comment from either side.
