MATCH #1: World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

Wrestlemania kicked off with Royal Rumble winner (and fellow sunlight-avoiding Irishman) Sheamus taking on Daniel Bryan (with his nerdalicious girlfriend AJ at ringside). This match has been pretty well anticipated, with many fans hoping that the two young up-and-comers can pull of a show-stealing back-and-forth contest (hyphen overload!). But alas, we were all left gob-smacked (or was that gob kicked?) as Bryan was hit with a Brogue Kick and pinned with 18 seconds.

The bell having rung while Bryan was smooching on the apron with AJ, the man with the slightly racist nickname of ‘Great White’ took the opportunity to stiff the American Dragon early-on. Forgive me if I go into a nerd rage here but…BULLSHIT! I can’t believe they wasted this opportunity to allow two of the most popular new stars in the WWE to have a great opening match. Instead I and the many ‘YES!’ sign wielding fans were robbed of an actual match. Needless to say this early disappointment left me plenty pissed and dreading the rest of the night. Could it get any worse? I was not looking forward to finding out.
