7. An Unexpected And Not-So-Royal Arrival (2013)

Less than two weeks prior to Kate’s due date, Paddy Power unleashed these disturbing man-babies on the London Underground, probably scaring the majority of zombified workers in the process. This was to promote their wacky betting options on the many variables of the royal baby; from hair colour to the name of his/her first girlfriend/boyfriend.

8. Fergie Back Banner (2014)

After a selection of Manchester United fans organised for a plane sporting a ‘Moyes Out’ banner to fly across Old Trafford, Paddy Power decided to make their own. Odds on the return of Fergie were seen jetting across the ground just moments after the original was spotted.

Clearly Paddy was not a fan of ol’ Moysey.

9. Money Back If He Walks (2014)

Not only did they spark outrage by offering bets on the Oscar Pistorius murder trial, but Paddy Power followed this up with a ‘money back if he walks’ advertising campaign, a crass pun on his disability.

This tied in with the Academy Awards, with the creators of the ad photoshopping  Pistorious’ head on one of the trophies.

It is unclear how effective these crazy publicity stunts are in marketing terms, but they certainly get people talking, laughing, and certainly complaining. Let us all hope, simply for the entertainment factor, that Paddy continues in a similar fashion.
