The boyfriend of 22-year-old Shani Louk, the German tattoo artist whose body was paraded on the back of pickup truck, has also been abducted by Hamas, and they are using his phone to troll his family with promises of a Palestinian victory in the war against Israel.

30-year-old Orión Hernández Radoux was attending the Supernova music festival along with Shani when he was taken hostage. Messages written in Arabic were sent from his phone, reading:

‘The next victory, O Zionist, is that it will remain Palestine – as long as God’s curse be upon you, O Zionists.

Palestine will be liberated, and Jerusalem will be the capital of Palestine, and Palestine will be free – cells from you, O Zionists, will not prevail against you.’

Which seems like a pretty delusional thing to say, given that this is almost certainly NOT how the war is going to end (quite the opposite). Still, it’s so ruthless to even be texting his family from his phone without at least giving an update as to Orión’s condition, or letting them speak to him themselves. Not to mention – the guy’s a Mexican national. His family aren’t Zionists – they’re just sat at home worried sick about their son/brother and praying for this saga to end like any sensible person is.

Of course, the idea is that these text messages will be publicised and let the world know that Hamas are not messing about. Just seems particularly insane to use a Mexican hostage’s phone to get that across on this occasion.

Let’s hope Orión and Shani are still alive and as well as can be, especially following her mum’s update earlier.
