I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a bigger red flag parade than serial killer obsessive Shaye Groves, who’s been jailed for 23 years this week after murdering her boyfriend Frankie Fitzgerald.

The girl literally had portraits of Peter Sutcliffe, Myra Hindley, Jeffrey Dahmer, Rose West, and other notorious killers up on her walls, and collected knives and axes for fun. 27-year-old Shaye sliced her boyfriend’s throat and stabbed him in the chest 17 times during a sneak attack as he slept. Here’s the moment she was arrested at her home last July:

Apparently, Shaye ‘snapped’ after looking through 25-year-old Frankie’s phone and finding messages with a 13-year-old girl, so it sounds like we’re dealing with a pair of lowlifes where tragedy was inevitable one way or another.

Shaye and Frankie were reportedly into bondage sex and knife play so it’s pretty surprising she didn’t go with the accidental death during sex story. Then again that’s probably a hard sell when you stab a guy 17 times and then video call your friend to show her the corpse while giggling and saying “I’ve done him.” Thankfully her friend had the good sense to then call 999. Still, you’d think she’d come up with some kind of plan given what a huge fan she was of true crime and serial killers.

In court, Shaye claimed Frankie had started beating her during a row and that she ‘hit him in the neck’ with the dagger mistakenly, having meant to grab a money box beside her bed. Again, not an easy sell when you’ve stabbed the guy 17 times.

Sure enough, jurors rejected her pleas of self-defence after hearing she failed to immediately call police and instead ‘cleaned up the crime scene’ and moved Frankie’s body.

Who knows, perhaps it was Shaye Groves’s dream all along to murder someone and end up as a portrait on the wall of some other young serial killer obsessive one day. I just can’t get over how anyone can date someone who is so openly admiring of the worst people in society, and also collects dangerous weapons to boot. I mean, I’m sure the sex was great and all, but it’s nowhere near worth the risk. You live and you learn. Well… maybe not in this case.
