It’s baffling to think that there are people out there who believe that Lucy Letby is innocent. I mean, it’s one thing to feel like you know better than the investigators, forensic experts, and Lucy’s own colleagues, but what about the damning handwritten notes found in Letby’s home?

Well there is in fact an 1,100-strong Facebook group called ‘Nurse Lucy Letby‘ that is devoted to proving the former nurse’s innocence, and here are the sorts of comments you can find on that page:

Amazing. Obviously there’s no use writing letters of support on Facebook where Lucy Letby can’t read them for herself, so some of the members of this group have decided to write personal letters to her addressed to HMP Low Newton, the jail in County Durham where she is being held.

One member of the Facebook group announced ‘I’ve sent my letter off to Lucy’, to which another replied ‘Please let us know if she responds. I am thinking of writing too.’

Another commented in a separate post: ‘I will be telling her in a letter that I am so sorry to see everything that has happened to her and her parents and that I’m praying for them every day.’

In another post discussing how to contact Lebty, a fourth person said: ‘I’ve said all along Lucy Letby is innocent. I’m so, so pleased people have been trying to make contact with her.’

Naturally, the page has also been infiltrated by Facebook users who have no doubt in their minds that Letby is guilty of murdering 7 babies (and attempting to kill 6 more). They are leaving comments such as: ‘Are you lot for real? Why would you send a letter to someone who killed seven babies?’ and ‘Omg, serial killer groupies already?’.

Letby, who was sentenced to life in prison, has always maintained her innocence and is planning to appeal her verdict (lol – good luck with that). Police are still reviewing the notes of some 4,000 babies admitted to the neonatal units of the Countess of Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women’s Hospital over Letby’s five-year nursing career, to determine whether she may have killed or attempted to kill even more babies. So I wouldn’t hold out too much hope if you’re a Lucy Letby superfan hoping to see her back out on the streets one day.
