A standoff between police and an OAP unfolded in New Jersey recently, which resembled something from a ridiculous comedy sketch. Obviously someone being shot is no laughing matter, but the way this happened definitely is.

76-year-old Gerald Sykes was minding his own business when New Jersey State Police troopers mistakenly came to his home to investigate a 911 hang up.

Since they were at the wrong house, Sykes was not expecting them and he came to the door armed with a shotgun thinking people were intruding. According to reports, there was ‘an exchange of gunfire’, not outlining who shot the first bullet.

Either way, Sykes was shot through the door. He became so weak from losing blood that he called 911, where he stated:

Please send the police. I’ve been shot. I’m going to die.

Not only did the police outside not come in and help him, but it was 45 minutes before an ambulance even arrived. What the actual fuck? Surely they should’ve let the officers in – they could’ve carried out an investigation on themselves.

Luckily Sykes is OK, although he definitely doesn’t feel particularly trusting towards law enforcement anymore.

For more police being morons, check out these guys who had an 11-hour stand off with an empty house.
