If you’re of a certain age then there’s absolutely no way that you wouldn’t have seen the Britney Spears video for ‘Baby One More Time’ about a million times – even if you weren’t perving on her – because it was literally on TV about twenty times a day. You just couldn’t miss the girl.

So if I were to ask you what colour Britney Spears’ skirt was in that video then I’m pretty sure you would be able to get it exactly right straight away? Well, someone just asked me that and I said I thought it was plaid/tartan or similar and then they sent me a link to the video and well, take a look at this:

It’s actually black!? (and definitely not grey) At first I just thought I must have misremembered it – unusual for me I know – but then I started reading about The Mandela Effect and how people think that the large hadron collider being turned on at CERN on July 5th has caused subtle changes to pop culture in our reality. What?
I know that sounds crazy and that Reddit forums, Twitter threads and TikTok videos are hardly the best places to go for accurate information about anything, but I really did find it fascinating that people are saying this stuff is happening. Especially because I myself remembered it quite clearly being check/plaid/tartan/whatever in the video AND so do these two articles on Vogue and People that were written back in 2019!

Ok so I don’t know all of those, but people seem to be vibing off some of them, so have some elements of our reality been retconned because the CERN large hadron collider was switched on last week? I really have no idea and it sounds too ridiculous to be true…..but I’m definitely convinced that Britney’s skirt was plaid and not black and I can’t really see another reason why that seems to be so embedded in the public consciousness?
Do your own research I guess and come to your own conclusions, but I don’t think you can deny that this is all very, very spooky. The truth is out there.
