Inmate Who ‘Battered Ian Huntley With Metal Bar’ Is A Rapist & Triple Murderer
The inmate suspected of battering Soham murderer Ian Huntley at HMP Frankland this week has been identified as Anthony Russell, a 43-year-old triple murderer and rapist.
According to The Sun, Russell used a metal bar (other reports say it was a ‘spiked metal pole’ or ‘metal spike’) obtained from a recycling crate to smash Huntley multiple times in the head.
Anthony Russell (below) is currently serving a whole-life order for a 2020 murder spree in which he strangled Julie Williams, 58, her son David Williams 32, and Nicole McGregor, 31. McGregor was five months pregnant at the time, and Russell raped her before killing her.

So yeah, it’s hard to say who the bigger scumbag is – the guy who is serving a life term for murdering two 10-year-old girls, or the guy who murdered three people and raped an expectant mother. It’s too bad they couldn’t bash each other over the head with a metal bar simultaneously, to be fair.
Prison sources suggest the attack followed a brief argument, though some claim Huntley had been “trying to bully” Russell. After the assault, Russell reportedly yelled, “I’ve done it… I’ve killed him!”.
As of today (February 27), Huntley remains in a critical condition in hospital with severe head injuries. Surely at this point he’d prefer to just die in his bed? The alternative is returning to HMP Frankland where he’ll inevitably be assaulted again.
Previously during his stint in the jail from 2002 till now – Huntley has had boiling water thrown over him and his throat slashed. The latter incident left him needing 21 stitches.

On the latest incident, a prison source told the Daily Mail: ‘Huntley was working in waste management with other prisoners from Wing A, the segregated wing for prisoners who can’t be in the normal jail population for their own protection.
‘The other prisoner got a metal bar from the waste metal crates and smashed Huntley three times in the head with it. It was a very, very serious injury, having been struck on the skull like that.’
I’m not sure there’s too many people in the UK, if anyone at all, who feel sorry for him. It is a bit weird seeing people call the attacker a “hero” though, given what he himself is in jail for. After all, he didn’t attack Huntley because he was repulsed by his crimes, but rather because the two got into an argument over something.
Both these monsters will never see daylight again – and that’s what matters.
