Man Arrested After Churchill Statue Defaced With ‘Zionist War Criminal’ Graffiti
A 38-year-old man has been arrested after the statue of Sir Winston Churchill in Parliament Square, London, was defaced with graffiti in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
The bronze sculpture was sprayed with red paint including the phrases “Zionist war criminal,” “Stop the Genocide,” “Free Palestine,” “Never again is Now,” and “Globalise the Intifada”. Point made, I think?

The police were on the scene within minutes and the man was detained shortly after 4am on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage and remains in custody.
The statue was cordoned off and cleaning efforts were already underway this morning. Pretty sure 30 minutes with a jet washer will sort it out, to be fair.

Churchill was, of course, a supporter of Zionism, describing himself as an “old Zionist” who advocated for a Jewish national home in Palestine.
As for the war criminal shouts – his policies killed around 4 million Indians during the 1943 Bengal Famine. He priotised the stockpiling of food for British and European reserves over feeding starving Indians, and even blocked Canada and Japan from delivering food to them.
Many accuse Churchill of intentionally starving millions of Indians to death; he once blamed the famine on Indians “breeding like rabbits” and mockingly asked why Mahatma Gandhi had not died yet if food was so scarce.

That’s aside from other crimes against humanity that Churchill oversaw; the torture, rape and castration of 150,000 Kenyans in the 1950s, the Croke Park Massacre in Ireland in 1920 and poison gas in Iraq from 1919 – 1921.
So, yes – ‘Zionist war criminal’ is factually correct, and the first part is even self-professed.
Still, does that mean we should be defacing the man’s statue decades later in London? Well, perhaps. If Churchill was around today he would certainly support and be contributing to the atrocities in Gaza. But then, just about every Prime Minister since then would have/has done, except for Clement Attlee (1945–1951).
Churchill’s statue has been vandalised several times over the years; this latest one comes following a government announcement in 2025 that made even climbing on the Churchill statue a crime punishable by up to three months in prison. The statue is currently designated as a protected monument.
