‘Game Of Thrones’ is one of the most phenomenally successful TV shows of the last twenty years, but it’s fair to say that the way it ended left a bitter taste in the mouths of the fans who loved it so much for so long.

Thankfully, it looks like HBO might have a chance to put that right with the much hyped prequel series ‘House Of The Dragon’ which dropped its first proper trailer today. The show is set 200 years before the events of ‘Game Of Thrones’ and tells the story of the Targaryen Civil War that became known as the ‘Dance Of The Dragons’.

Paddy Considine appears as King Viserys I – the fifth king of the Targaryen dynasty to rule the Seven Kingdoms – with Emma D’Arcy playing Viserys’ first child Princess Rhaenyra and Matt Smith also showing up as Prince Daemon, Viserys’ younger brother. Take a look at the trailer below and see what you think:

Oooh. Immediately got chills there when it opened with a shot of the Iron Throne – didn’t you? – and from then on it’s just a reminder of what we’ve been missing for the past few years since ‘Game Of Thrones’ went off the air. Although all the talk of succession got me confused with another famous HBO show.

Anyway, it’s on Sky Atlantic over here on August 22n  and you can almost guarantee that it’s going to be the biggest show of the year. Only a month or so to go!

For more of the same, check out this video featuring one second of each episode of ‘Game Of Thrones’. Absolute masterclass.
