Drill Rapper Jooka Explains Why He Loves The Streets More Than His Mum

Incredible stuff from drill rapper Jooka on the Winners Talking Podcast this week, as the UK emcee admitted he loved the streets more than his mum.

It’s not hyperbole either – the man fully explained where he was coming from…

The host, fellow rapper Pound Sterling, asks:

“You’re a soldier, undoubtably. Do you love the gang more than you love your mum?

“Do you love the gang and being a soldier more than you love your mum, that will have to come and visit you up and down the country, her life will be put on hold, she’s going to be stressed, bawling for you, like she was bawling for you on the phone to me that time. Her life is just going to be sacrificed to looking after you because she loves you with all her heart. Does the gang matter more to you than your mum?”

After some reflection, Jooka replied:

“I appreciate that question. And if we are talking evidently, yes I love the streets more than my mum, most definitely.”

Sterling responded:

“You’re a lost yute, you’re a lost yute. You’re letting me down. You can’t love the streets more than you love your mum. You’re bantering me.”

Jooka held firm, saying:

“This is far from banter if I am being totally honest. I’m not saying it just to say it. I’m talking about evidently. When you do English, and they ask, ‘Have you passed or failed?’, you have passed evidently because they check your work. So if you check my credentials, you check my past, you check what I have been through, most definitely.”

Top marks for honesty there. The man loves the streets more than his mum and he doesn’t care who knows it!

To be fair, Jooka is a guy who’s been in and out of jail, charged with both attempted murder and GBH, so maybe it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that street life > mum.

He had even stated in an interview that he was “frustrated” to be charged with attempted murder rather than murder. Straight up murder would have looked so much better on his street CV!

In fairness, he is very astute to point out that “evidently” he loves the streets more than his mum i.e. his past and present behaviour indicate that, so if he said otherwise, he would be lying. Would the gang be there for him the way his mum would, though? Only he knows for sure. Poor mumsie.
