Footage of Dana White slapping his wife at one of the lamest looking New Year’s Eve parties of all time went viral a couple of days ago and of course people are dragging up some old quotes that he made about domestic abuse to make him look like a complete and utter idiot.

Back in 2014, NFL star Ray Rice was caught on a surveillance camera punching his then fiancee in the face – a move that would ultimately end his career in the big leagues of American football. Here’s what Dana White had to say about it at the time:

We’ve been human beings in letting these guys, other guys make up for what they’ve done and come back.

There’s one thing that you never bounce back from, and that’s putting your hands on a woman. Been that way in the UFC since we started here. You don’t bounce back from putting your hands on a woman.

Wow that’s so good isn’t it? I don’t think he could have said anything that makes him look stupider after his recent actions than those words above, but the fact is that he already signed convicted domestic abuser and former NFL player Greg Hardy to the UFC before dropping him earlier this year, so his word has already been confirmed as meaning pretty much nothing. I suppose the Hardy move makes it easier for him to do absolutely nothing in his current situation, but I don’t think we should pretend that this wouldn’t have been the case regardless.

Just another classic case of people in power telling everyone how to act and doing the exact opposite themselves. It’s getting a bit old now, but I don’t see it stopping any time soon.

For more of the same, check out some of the top UFC finishes from 2022. That’s more like it.
