The incident in question took place last July on Conor’s private yacht in Ibiza. A Spanish news site named Ultima Hora originally broke the story on Monday night, but since then more details have emerged.

Here’s the lowdown from MMA Fighting:

On Monday, Spanish news site Ultima Hora reported that McGregor has been named in an incident in which he allegedly struck a woman multiple times and threatened to drown her during a party to celebrate his birthday, which took place the weekend of July 15. The woman then jumped off of the yacht to escape.

According to her complaint, the mixed martial arts star became violent by surprise.

After beginning to criticise the victim, the trigger for the attack was according to her that she tried to get a friend who was on board the yacht to help her.

‘His behaviour changed at that moment and he became very aggressive.

‘It was as if he was possessed. I knew I had to leave the boat because I thought he was going to kill me.

‘We have common friends and I have met him on a number on occasions. I can’t believe what he did to me. I think he would have killed me if I hadn’t left the yacht.’

I jumped into the water in just a bikini without a phone or any money. I just wanted to get back to the hotel as quickly as possible.

They left me stranded. I had to be helped ashore by rescuers. They wouldn’t even abandon a dog the way they did me.’

Initially, McGregor’s involvement was ruled out by Gardia Civil (Spain’s national police force) according to sources cited by Marca. The alleged victim, a former neighbour of McGregor’s, reportedly first told officers that McGregor attacked her, then said that it was not him. She has since filed a report against McGregor in Ireland, resulting in the case being re-opened.

Details of the incident (h/t MMA Mania) allege that McGregor and the woman initially interacted amicably before the fighter became violent. He is accused of kicking her in the stomach, punching her in the chin, and then threatening, “I’m going to drown you, who do you think you are?”

Yeah well I suppose Conor has got previous for this kind of behaviour – who can forget him punching some Irish guy in the face for refusing to try his whiskey? – so it’s not out of the realms of possibility, but it also sounds kind like the woman in question might be trying to get him to cough up some shut up money too. Seems kinda weird that she would say it was him and then not him and then re-open the case in Ireland doesn’t it? Although I guess there’s probably a good chance some of that isn’t true as well. Who knows at this point?

The does feels like the kind of thing that will probably just go away after a bit without any resolution unless some video footage turns up. Conor has denied all the allegations obviously, but you can’t help but think he’s a bit of a wrong ‘un these days with all the trouble he gets into out of the Octagon.
