‘Peaky Blinders’ wrapped up its run as a TV show earlier this year and most people seemed pretty disappointed with how it ended up, as it seemed to be solely laying the groundwork for the much hyped up movie and didn’t really give the show the send off that it deserved.

There haven’t been too many updates about the movie since then though, but now Cillian Murphy has let the following information slip about it through an interview with Today FM. Here’s what he had to say:

Yes, I believe so. I’ve still not read it [the script] but that’s the plan, the plan is to make a film and to continue the story but in the cinematic world rather than on the television.

The television part of the story is finished. If there’s more stories to tell, I’m there. I just haven’t read it yet but it’s close apparently.

OK so that isn’t really telling us that much is it? I figured with the show ending in March or whatever that they would be well down the road with at least the script and maybe even filming it at this point, but I guess they’re still labouring over the exact storyline. Bummer.

Pretty useless update to be honest, but I suppose that it is telling us that it’s probably going to be at least another couple of years before we see the end of the saga of Tommy Shelby. I wonder if the movie will open with ‘Red Right Hand’ after that was left off the last series? Hopefully we’ll find out in 2024/25.

For more of the same, check out Jason Statham complaining about how he lost the role of Tommy Shelby to Cillian Murphy. I think the whole world is thankful for that.
