Brit, 57, Killed With A Single Karate Chop To The Neck After Moped Road Rage In Thailand

A British man has been killed following a road rage incident in Phuket, Thailand, in which he was karate chopped in the neck.

The 57-year-old, from Liverpool, had been riding his rented scooter along Prachanukhro Road on Wednesday when he clashed with a Swedish tourist on his own moped.

Apparently one of the men cut in front of the other, and then both pulled into an alleyway to square up to each other.

The Swedish national, identified as 29-year-old Pektas Tuguy Tayyar, delivered a deadly karate chop to the Brit’s neck, felling him in one move.

The force of the karate chop knocked the Brit unconscious instantly. He suffered severe head injuries, likely exacerbated by his head hitting the ground. He was rushed to Patong Hospital and died later that night.

The attacker’s girlfriend can also be seen in the images trying to intervene and stop the fight, but Pektas clearly was not having any of it…

Authorities at the Patong district police station launched a manhunt and reviewed CCTV footage, before arresting Pektas at the Utopia hotel in the Kathu District today.

He confessed to the attack and was charged with ‘assault resulting in death’, before having his picture taken with the arresting team – something of a tradition in Thailand:

Police Colonel Korakrit Khankruea, superintendent of Patong district station, said: ‘At around 5pm, a witness reported that a foreign man had been assaulted at Malin Plaza market.

‘He was struck once, causing his head to hit the ground, before an ambulance took him to the hospital.

‘At around 11pm, Patong Hospital informed police that the man had died. Injuries were found on his head, likely caused by the heavy impact as he hit the ground.

‘Investigators examined the scene, reviewed security camera footage and questioned witnesses. They identified the suspect as a foreign man riding a black Honda X-ADV 750 motorcycle.

‘The incident occurred when both men were riding motorcycles and honked their horns at each other.

‘The suspect became angry, dismounted and argued before hitting the victim once with the bottom of his hand.’

‘The suspect admitted to hitting the victim. He was taken to court for detention in the morning and bail was denied.’

Horrible way to go really – being karate chopped in the neck during a dumb argument on the side of the road in Thailand. By a fellow tourist, no less!

How about just honking your horns, calling each other w***ers and getting on with your day? Now one man is dead and another is going to Thai jail for a very long time. Think I’d rather be the Brit in this scenario, to be fair.
