I can understand that old nostalgic stuff can fetch high prices when auctioned off on eBay, but I find it pretty ridiculous that people are willing to pay £1500 for something as useless as an unopened McDonald’s straw from 1986.

Nevertheless, this is the listing that’s currently playing out there after a seller in Luton decided to put the drinking device up for sale on the online auction platform. The packaging sports the fast food restaurant’s iconic retro golden arches as well as their original burgundy font as well, which I suppose is pretty interesting considering how different it is now.

Here’s the listing if you feel like making a bid:

Rare Vintage Plastic McDonald’s 1986 Design Straw – Still In wrapper – Unopened and in good condition for age.

Nostalgic item for any keen collector taking you back to the good ol’ days.

Care will be taken with postage to ensure safety in transit.

Yeah I’m still not convinced even despite that scintillating write up there. I suppose it’s a bit more of a novelty now that McDonald’s don’t even make plastic straws any more, but I think that you’ve gotta be an absolute madman to drop that amount of money on a freakin’ straw.

Having said that though, if you have a look on eBay for these kind of straws there are a whole host of people selling them, with some people trying to flog them for £5000. Must be somewhat of a lucrative market out there hey?

If you actually do desperately want to pick one up then take a look at this listing where they’re selling them for a much more reasonable £10. Only need a quick look to figure that out.

For more of the same, check out this gang of fifty youths storming McDonald’s and stealing all the food. Pity they didn’t nab a few of the straws.
