3. Mickey Rooney – Breakfast At Tiffany’s (1961)

For some of you this movie will simply be a poster you’ve seen on some girls wall whilst trying to finger her for the fifth time that night, or maybe you are the one surviving fan of Deep Blue Something but more than likely you remember this 60’s gem for what can only be aptly described as the most offensive performance ever in American cinema.

Much like Kung Fu ( coming up later) this picture sees yellowfacing being taken to a whole new level as Old Mickey takes some time out of banging and often marrying everything with a pulse to take to the screen as I.Y. Yunioshi. Yunioshi (pictured above) is a character who embodies every Japanese stereotype going for the entertainment of American and worldwide audiences, and to say it’s a caricature doesn’t do it justice.

Even if they had’ve casted an Asian actor instead of racebending it still would’ve been offensive just creating the character; and that’s without taking into consideration Rooney’s prosthetic mouthpiece that makes him look like he’d bite the label off your apple if you let him.
