Scum
The ‘daddy’ of all gritty movies, SCUM details life in a borstal in the 1980s. Featuring Ray Winstone in one of his first ever roles the movies is unsettling form start to finish. Originally a two part television series on the BBC the series was already dealing with touchy subject matter, but Alan Clarke remade the movie into something of a controversial explosion. Dealing with suicide, rape and racism the movie paints a very bleak picture of the justice system.
