Women being harassed at the gym is something everyone needs to be mindful of, but the guy in this particular clip seems pretty innocent to me. Just a regular dude looking around in between sets and this girl’s making him out to be some kind of stalker. What is he supposed to look at? The floor?
You might say that offering to help her with the weight was a little unnecessary and/or a blatant attempt at interacting with her, but even still – she said ‘no thanks’ and he went on his merry way. He probably was just genuinely trying to be helpful. That seems to be view of Joey Swoll, who defended the gym-goer with this Instagram post after the initial TikTok went viral:

Indeed, the majority of the internet seems to think this Jessica overreacted a tad, and fair play to the girl – she’s taken it on board and said she’ll be addressing the clip and the response to it in the coming days:

Who knows, maybe she has a good reason to have misinterpreted the guy’s glances and his motivations when he tried to help her. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what she says. Happy gymming, everybody! Eyes on the prize.
