It looks like it’s doing nothing, because it is doing nothing. They are classified as animals but they have no central nervous system or gut. They can’t even move, they are no better than a shitty plant.
I almost changed my mind when I found out some sponges are carnivorous, but it turns out they just accidentally “capture” molluscs (about 1mm in size) in their useless dangling threads.
