There is always a moment of excitement when fans of a TV show eagerly await new episodes. However, that excitement can be tinged with dread when those new episodes are billed as the final episodes. Fans of the Walking Dead TV series know that the end is near. This autumn, the last eight episodes in the long-running series are due to be aired. What started back on Halloween night in 2010 has kept fans engaged for twelve years. The Zombie series extended to eleven seasons over that time. Few would have thought there would be so much mileage in the franchise.

When Will The Walking Dead Season 11, Part 3 Be Released?

AMC will air the first of the last eight episodes of The Walking Dead on October 2, 2022. The episode will premiere at 9 pm Eastern Time. Fans in the UK will be in for a late night if they want to watch the show live – it will be 2 am on the morning of October 3 there.

The show will initially only be available to subscribers of AMC Network’s subscription service AMC+. The first two episodes of part 3 will be aired on October 2, with new weekly episodes being released. Season 11 is the final season. There will be 24 episodes, and the story will be brought to a close on November 20.

When Will New The Walking Dead Episodes Be Available On Netflix?

Nothing is official, but Netflix viewers may have to wait a little bit longer for their next fix. AMC will likely make viewers wait for all eight episodes to screen on AMC before releasing the show on another platform. This has been the pattern with the previous seasons, so the release of final episodes on Netflix is expected to follow a similar pattern.

What Has Made The Show So Popular?

The Walking Dead is so much more than a zombie series, which is one reason it has been so successful. The undead is never actually described in the storyline as zombies. The plotlines are based on Robert Kirman’s Walking Dead comic strips. The narrative is drawn from this source material. Like the original comic book, the TV series is so much more than just mindless zombies roaming the land. The comic, The Walking Dead, is about the fight of survivors to live another day in an apocalypse. Rather than focus on the gore and horror, it tells the human side of the story. Another unexpected element of the comic book story is that, at the end of times, the living humans are positioned as the true villains.

A Life Of Its Own

Ironic as it sounds, The Walking Dead has taken on a life of its own, stepping off the book pages and out of TV screens into a whole world of merchandise and games. Braver fans can pick themselves up a branded duvet cover, the more timid might opt for a pair of socks. There are a string of video games, versions of Monopoly, Cluedo and a Top Trumps set. Playtech make a Walking Dead 2 video slot. This is among several of the most popular new slots for UK players and has Rick Grimes as the highest paying slot symbol. Reviewers say that the latest version of the game is better than the original. Will fans think the same about the latest episodes of the TV show?

What Is The Story?

The comic and the series tell the story of a central group of survivors. They are known as Rick’s group, as they are led by police officer Rick Grimes. It follows them over the months and years that follow a zombie apocalypse. They start out searching for a safe and secure home, but survival takes a toll on them. The series explores the challenges of life in a world overrun by the undead. Sometimes the conflicts between the protagonists present the greatest danger to their survival rather than the zombie ‘walkers’ who roam the country.  Indeed, some of the characters are willing to do anything to survive.

The viewer can find themselves asking the question, who does the title The Walking Dead refer to? Is it the zombies or the humans who lose the essence of what it is to be human?
