Really weird story here as actress Thandie Newton has been sacked from the new Magic Mike movie after getting into a heated argument with Channing Tatum about Will Smith’s slap of Chris Rock at the Oscars.

According to the NY Post, the argument reached “astonishing” and “unimaginably vicious” levels, causing Tatum to walk off the West London set of ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ and drive away in his car. A crew member said:

“Channing Tatum is the producer and number one on set. Thandie Newton is the number two star. But 11 days into shooting and it’s all over.

They fell out over the debacle at The Oscars. I was on set. I watched her and watched him. They were in and out of the house where we were filming having this confrontation.

It was a tense exchange of words, but suddenly it escalated. Channing got into this car and he disappeared.”

Director Steven Soderbergh tried to diffuse the situation, but to no avail…

“He was trying to calm things down but he’s a very quiet man.”

In the end, they decided to re-cast Newton’s lead female role, which will now be played by Salma Hayek. Huge W for her. But it goes to show how massive the Will Smith/Chris Rock incident was that people are still falling out and losing jobs over it. I don’t know what positions Newton and Tatum took or even what positions are available, but that must have been a pretty passionate argument to result in one storming off set and the other literally getting fired from the movie.

Well anyway, all’s well that ends well. They both get to escape each other and Magic Mike gets to oil up his body one last time and all the ladies who are going to enjoy it get to drag their boyfriends along to see Salma Hayek. What a compromise.

For the time Thandie Newton broke down on live TV while apologising to ‘dark-skinned women’ for ‘taking your men’, click HERE. That was a bit weird.
