Tennessee School Board Member Stands By His Comments After Telling Teenage Student: “God, You’re Hot”

A Tennessee school board member who told a teenage student: “God, you’re hot. Do you know that? Where do you go to school at?”, is standing by his comments following calls for his resignation.

Washington County official Keith Ervin, 59, made the pervy comments in front of the student’s mum and the entire audience during the meeting…

Rather than accept he behaved inappropriately and immediately resign, Ervin is standing by what he said and doesn’t seem to realise what all the fuss about.

He claims he called the teenager “hot” because he was impressed by her “smart questions.”

Ervin told a local news outlet: “I mean, I was impressed and the other board members was impressed because of the question she asked.”

“And, you know, I’m old school. I’m an old farm boy. And I didn’t mean nothing by anything. I just was proud of her.”

Ervin claims there is a lot of “context missing” from the viral videos. Maybe he was commenting on her body temperature? I mean, I’m not sure what possible missing context there could be that would excuse an old man telling a teenage girl that she’s “hot” and asking what school she goes to. In a school board meeting, no less!

Furthermore, someone did some digging and found an old article about Ervin from 2009. Turns out he has previous for ‘lewd behaviour’ in a school setting…

Apparently this was over a “w*nking gesture” he did in front of a load of students. But come on now, he’s just an old farm boy! He didn’t mean anything by it.

Board members are set to meet later today (Wednesday) to discuss Ervin’s future on the board. Looks like he’s gone for the “I didn’t do anything wrong” approach rather than apologise and hope they keep him on. Although to be fair, I don’t think it would have played out in his favour either way.
