4. Possible Proof That Yetis Are Maybe Real

New research put forward by a geneticist from the University of Oxford may finally prove the existence of Bigfoot. The bad news is that Bigfoot might just be a boring old bear.

Geneticist Brian Sykes has conducted DNA analysis on two different hair samples — one from a strange animal shot by a hunter 40 years ago in northern India’s Ladakh region, and a second sample found in a Bhutan bamboo forest 10 years ago — and claims to have linked them to the jawbone of an ancient polar bear found in Norway. This might mean that the Himalayas are home to a species of bear that was long thought to be extinct, and could help explain the numerous reported sightings of yetis in the area.

Although Sykes stops short of claiming that this proves the existence of a yeti type creature, it is an important scientific breakthrough that could provide a bit of a boring conclusion to one of the longest running mysteries in cryptozoology.
