Horrific news out of the US last night as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos became the country’s latest mass shooter – murdering two teachers and 19 children aged 7 to 11 at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas; a small town near the Mexican border. He was then shot dead by police.

The carnage began when Ramos shot his own grandmother, who survived, before fleeing and crashing his car near the primary school where he continued his rampage. Hours earlier, Ramos had randomly DM’d a girl on Instagram after tagging her in two photos of his automatic rifles. Here’s how their exchange went…

The unnamed girl shut down claims she knew Ramos personally and says she doesn’t know why he tagged her or began DMing her. She’s not even from Texas, where the gunman lived. She says the only reason she continued replying was because she was “afraid of him”.

What can you say really? There’s no way this girl could have truly known what Ramos was planning as his messages were vague enough to just seem like he was being weird and looking for attention. Really sucks for this poor girl that he dragged her into all this; must have been a huge shock to then realise what was happening and that she was one of the last people he ‘spoke’ to before beginning his rampage.

I’m sure we’ll learn more about Salvador Ramos in the coming days as more details about his life and the shooting are made public. The US really needs to sort out their gun laws and do something about this because there’s a mass shooting in the States every few weeks it seems. The victims this time were school teachers and their 7 to 11-year-old students. If that isn’t enough to wake America up, then I don’t know what is.
