6. The Stig

For those of you who don’t know – and if you’re halfway through reading this article about Top Gear, we’re really not sure why you wouldn’t – The Stig is a mystery professional racer, concealed in a costume who appears on the programme primarily to set lap times.

The whole reason that his identity is concealed is because the producers at the BBC couldn’t effectively find a professional racing driver who had a decent screen presence but we think it’s about time that the real star of the show got his time to shine, to hypothetically take off his helmet and get the airtime he truly deserves.
