If Oscar Pistorius is found not guilty of the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, betting firm Paddy Power is offering money back to punters who booked on the outcome of the trial.

Paddy Power have already received heaps of criticism for taking bets on the trial in the first place, but this new offer advertising refunds is sure to get them a fresh batch of angry publicity.

There’s a petition going demanding that Paddy Power withdraws the “offensive betting” and/or donates the profits to women’s charities fighting domestic violence.

Holly Dustin, director of End Violence Against Women, told the UK’s Press Association of her disgust at the ad campaign. “They are making a game out of murder and the brutal killing of a young woman, which is unacceptable,” she said.

Pistorius has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Steenkamp and several weapons-related charges.
