One Person Killed And 89 Injured After Two London-Bound Trains Crash Into Each Other
Terrible news to bring you this morning as one person has been killed and 89 others injured after two London-bound passenger trains collided south of Bedford on Friday evening, June 19.
British Transport Police confirmed that the sole fatality was the driver of one of the trains.
The collision occurred around 5:15pm local time in the Elstow area, just south of Bedford.

The accident involved two southbound East Midlands Railway services heading toward London St Pancras: the 3:50pm service from Nottingham and the 4:40pm service from Corby.
One train rear-ended the other on the same track, and while both trains largely remained upright, the impact was hard and sudden and without warning, shattering carriages and leaving the scene filled with smoke.
Over 20 ambulances and six air ambulances were dispatched, with the 8 injuries categorised as follows: 11 very serious/critical injuries, 22 serious/moderate injuries, and 56 minor injuries.

All lines between Bedford and Luton remain completely blocked. East Midlands Railway has suspended all services in and out of London St Pancras, which is an absolute nightmare, but of course, can’t be helped after an incident like this.
The UK’s Rail Accident Investigation Branch has deployed inspectors to the site to gather evidence and determine how both passenger trains ended up on the same section of track.

Most expensive train journeys in the world with the highest paid drivers, but goes to show that even we Brits aren’t immune from tragedies like this, as incredibly rare as they are.
Thoughts with all those involved in the accident and their friends and families, and here’s hoping the investigation can figure out what happened exactly to ensure we never see a repeat.
