As one of the most successful and eccentric personalities in Hollywood, Nicolas Cage has a lifetime of memories to look back on. However the 59-year-old legend has baffled everyone this week by claiming that his earliest memory is pre-birth. Yup – Nicolas Cage reckons he can remember being inside his mother’s womb.

He recalled the moment while talking to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show:

“Let me think. Listen, I know this sounds really far out and I don’t know if it’s real or not, but sometimes I think I can go all the way back to in-utero and feeling like I could see faces in the dark or something.

I know that sounds powerfully abstract, but that somehow seems like maybe it happened.

Now that I am no longer in-utero, I would have to imagine it was perhaps vocal vibrations resonating through to me at that stage.

That’s going way back. I don’t know. That comes to mind… I don’t even know if I remember being in-utero, but that thought has crossed my mind.”

Wow, what Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The guy’s memory is so on point that he can even remember being inside his mother’s womb. Although he could be selling himself short because what if this memory of shadows and vibrations came when he was in his father’s sack? That would be an even earlier memory and way more impressive, especially if he could remember the part where won the race against a million competing sperms.

In any case, this is Nic Cage we’re talking about so we have no choice but to 100% believe him. After seeing the state of his Las Vegas mansion, anything’s possible.
