Trailer For New Netflix Show ‘NARCOS’ Makes It Look Like It Could Be The Next ‘The Wire’

NARCOS

It’s based on the true story of the U.S. and Colombian efforts to battle Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel during the cocaine fuelled drug wars of the 1980s.

Although we’ve been spoiled silly this week with awesome looking trailers for new TV shows – namely Ash Vs The Evil Dead and Show Me A Hero – Netflix have trumped all of those with this trailer for their new series NARCOS.

It’s based on the true story of the U.S. and Colombian efforts to battle Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel during the cocaine fuelled drug wars of the 1980s. Mutlifaceted and multilayered, it looks to feature multiple plot lines, an ensemble cast and promises to blur the lines between right and wrong and black and white. It also looks like it’s going to be completely brutal.

Netflix generally has an excellent track record with its original dramas (House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black being the standouts, with an honourable mention to Daredevil) but this really could be the show that takes it to the next level. It’s available from August 28th and it seems like binge watching it will be the perfect activity to partake on a bank holiday weekend, don’t you think?

If you need a reminder of the story of Pablo Escobar, check out this papier mache version of it.
