Manager Of An Alcohol-Free Bar Called ‘Sobr’ Convicted Of Drunk Driving
The manager of an alcohol-free pub has been convicted of drunk driving in Aberdeen, Scotland. Where’s Alanis Morrissette when you need her?
Hayden Geraghty, the general manager of trendy bar ‘Sobr’, was found slumped over the wheel of his crashed car while more than four times (!) the limit.
Press and Journal reports that Geraghty crashed his Volkswagen Golf into a structure near the Holburn Bar in Aberdeen before being found at the wheel by police.

Breathalyzer tests conducted at Kittybrewster Police Station recorded 99 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit in Scotland is 22mcg.
Geraghty admitted to the offence, and said he’d been out for a few drinks with friends after finishing a shift.
In the end, he was given a 12-month driving ban and a £520 fine.
Sobr, which opened in October 2025 as Scotland’s first alcohol-free bar, issued a statement confirming that Geraghty would remain in his role and that the business would support him on his recovery, so that’s nice. The full statement from Sobr owner Kate Kenyon reads:
“The matter of Hayden’s court case is very personal to him and he understands the amount of hurt and damage he has caused, both to himself and those closest to him.

“Since the incident, Hayden has been upfront, open and honest with us about what he has been going through, which we have greatly appreciated, and we have offered support when needed, from both a personal and professional standpoint. His situation further shows why somewhere like Sobr is so important.”
I mean, that is the best spin they can put on it really. It’s actually a genius bit of marketing if you think about it. No wonder they’re keeping him around!
Best of luck to Haydn on his recovery.
