Does the man in the image above look like the kind of guy who would attempt to rob a store using a Duck Hunt gun from an old Nintendo console? Of course he does, and that’s exactly what he did over in South Carolina this week.

David Joseph Dalsendaro, 25, robbed a Kwik Stop store in the Sharon area using the pistol-shaped controller, and seeing as the cashier didn’t instantly burst into laughter, I’m guessing they didn’t recognise it from their own childhood.

According to Sky News, Dalesandro showed the clerk the fake gun, and then stole $300 (£240) from the register. Which doesn’t sound like it’s worth nearly enough the effort. Were the banks closed or something?

Duck Hunt was a classic 1980s NES game where players took aim at the screen to hit moving targets in the air. Here’s a clip:

Ah, that brings back memories. Actually crazy to think that such an old game possessed the technology to detect where the pistol was pointing at. Way ahead of its time!

Back to Dalesandro – in the end, our culprit was arrested after officers discovered him in a nearby car park with the fake gun in his waistband. And now he’ll forever be known as the guy who robbed a convenience store using the Duck Hunt gun. What a legacy.
