We’ve said it before and we’ll say again – we’re categorically NOT claiming that Huw Edwards is the BBC presenter who paid a 17-year-old boy £35,000 for sexually explicit photos (could have bought the lad’s kidney for that much?), but his name is at the top of the rumour mill on social media.

Following the embarrassing image of the BBC presenter that leaked yesterday, social media users are now sharing DMs that Huw Edwards allegedly sent them over the years. You can decide for yourself what to make of them:

So 4 out of 5 of those are Huw Edwards initiating conversation by sending an emoji, and just the one has weirdly sexual undertones where he’s (allegedly) messaged a complete stranger and called him a bad boy with a kiss at the end. Obviously these messages don’t prove anything and we can’t even tell for sure if they’re authentic, but they all come from different accounts and seem to mostly share a common theme. Maybe he was just being friendly?

The investigation continues. Surely it’s only a matter of time before the BBC officially name the presenter at the heart of the scandal and we find out whether the rumours are true or not.
