Ever since Sadiq Khan became mayor of London in 2016, he’s become one of the most polarising figures in UK politics.

With the next London mayoral election just one week away on May 2, what better way to get everyone on side than promising to bring Wrestlemania to London? But only if he’s re-elected, of course.

Khan says he wants to “fully cement London’s reputation as the undisputed sports capital of the world”, and said:

“I believe that London has the potential to host the first international WrestleMania.”

London already hosted the first ever international Summerslam back in 1992 (RIP British Bulldog), so why not a Wrestlemania? They could hold it at Wembley Stadium again, or maybe even the new Tottenham Hotspur ground, and make a massive weekend out of it. Who cares about knife crime when you’ve got that to look forward to!

The way WWE is moving these days, they could probably even arrange a no DQ match between Sadiq Khan and Susan Hall, with Boris Johnson running in at the end to wallop Khan with a chair, only for Jeremy Corbyn’s music to hit (!) and have him run in to save the day (just throwing out ideas here).

Let’s be honest – Sadiq Khan will probably end up winning the election whether he promised to bring Wrestlemania to London or not, as he just generally seems to have a lot of support in London and is running against the most uninspiring opposition you can think of. Still, it would be pretty awesome if he could make it happen.

Aside from Wrestlemania, Khan says he also wants to bring the Superbowl to London, bring more NBA games to the capital, and also begin work on London hosting the Olympics in 2036.
