Another day, another update about how the Coronavirus epidemic continues to spread and shows no real signs of stopping or being contained after the first death outside of China was confirmed.

We’re over in the Philippines for this one, where health officials have confirmed that a 44 year old man contracted the virus and sadly passed away. Rabindra Abeyasinghe, the World Health Organisation representative to the Philippines, said the following to The Guardian:

This is the first reported death outside China.

However, we need to take into mind that this is not a locally acquired case.

This patient came from the epicentre of this outbreak.

I guess that makes it slightly better? Not really sure if it does though as 304 other people have now died in China at the time of writing and the total number of infected has risen to 14,300 spread across 26 different countries. Although those numbers are fairly small when you think of the entire population of the world, it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down its march any time soon. I guess stay safe and invest in one of those face masks if you’re leaving the house/country.

For more of the same, check out this Coronavirus conspiracy theory that suggests China deliberately released the virus themselves. Surely not?
