Demi Lovato Sings To A Ghost To Help It Overcome Sexist Trauma And Receives ‘Standing Ovation’

If I was a ghost who was trapped in a house forever and just minding my own business, I’m not sure I’d want Demi Lovato to turn up and refer to me as a ‘star person’, make all kinds of assumptions about me suffering sexist trauma, and then serenade me in front of a TV audience. But it looks like that was the experience of one unfortunate ghoul during the latest episode of ‘Unidentified’ on Peacock TV.

Before serenading the ghost, non-binary Demi surmised:

She has trauma. That’s why she doesn’t like men. I have trauma, too, so I feel you and I get it.

I’m not sure why she’s acting like she can translate “beeeeeep” into “she has trauma”, but anyway. After the performance, the detector emitted three bursts, which was taken as a positive response. Speaking later on Face To Face With Becky G about the encounter, Demi said:

We were originally setting out to search for UFOs and ETs and then we came across this city called Vulture City.

Vulture City is known for these ghosts that lived in an old brothel, and so we set-up those machines and I decided to sing for them and they went off when I finished.

I’ve never had a standing ovation from ghosts, but I’d like to think they were standing.

Well, who knows? Maybe Demi Lovato singing to this traumatised spirit was truly a healing experience for the ghost… or maybe it just added to the trauma. TBH it feels like she’s just blatantly projecting her own character on the ghost by describing it as ‘traumatised’ and having issues with men. Given her own issues with bipolar and psychosis and all the rest of it, I’m not sure sticking her on a TV show where she sings to ‘ghosts’ is the best idea in the world. Maybe something for her management team to ponder, whoever they are.
