CHILDREN’S TELEVISION PRESENTERS WHO LET IT SLIP

Cerrie Burnell

Ok, ok, ok – she hasn’t really let it slip but some people certainly took a disliking to Cerrie Burnell.

The presenter took over The Bedtime Hour program on the popular CBeebies digital channel but immediately caused offense to a large amount of viewers just because she had one arm. Many parents claimed that she had no right to be on the tele but we at SickChirpse feel she’s pretty (h)armless.

Some of the messages on the BBC website parental notice board had to be removed because they were deemed to be too vicious. Some claimed that they were forced to ban their children from watching the show as they thought it would cause horrific nightmares.

It seems that the public would deem the appointment of Cerrie to be the most controversial of the lot as people consider the BBC’s hiring of her is simply under the guise of “ticking boxes” and comes out of a determination to show “minorities” on the tele.

Although it can clearly be argued that she never lost it the public would seemingly argue the other way as one blogger went as far as to say:

“Is it just me, or does anyone else think the new woman presenter on CBeebies may scare the kids because of her disability?”

Rumour has it the BBC are taking it a step forward and they’ve lined up the out of work midget and one armed man from Twin Peaks to fill the breakfast slot as well.
