A BMW driver in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, has been sentenced to 4 years and 10 months in prison after he rammed a biker off a bridge in a fit of road rage, leaving him with serious injuries.

That sentence may seem a bit light after you watch the clip of BMW driver Nikesh Mistry, 34, sending the cyclist, a man in his 40s, flying off the bridge:

That may look like an attempted murder, but Mistry was instead charged with dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. According to reports, Mistry and the biker engaged in a non-verbal exchange before Mistry then used his BMW to force the motorcyclist onto the wrong side of street. He then squashed him between his silver BMW 320 and a metal bridge railing, while still on the wrong side of the road. As the BMW then smashed into another car, the biker was catapulted over the bridge and (thankfully) landed on the bushes below. Even still, the biker sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital for treatment.

Worse still, Mistry also caused serious injuries to the front passenger of the car he collided head on with as he travelled in the wrong direction. So he’s managed to hospitalise and nearly kill 2 people all because he lost his head behind the wheel of his BMW.

Mistry was also disqualified from driving for four years and ten months – which is conveniently the exact length of his sentence and will run concurrently. Not like he needs his license behind bars, is it? Although he will need to take an extended re-test before getting his licence back once out of prison, so there is that.
