Emily Willis Wins $3 Million Payout After Being Left ‘Permanently Disabled’
Adult film star Emily Willis has been awarded a $3 million payout by a Los Angeles judge due to the ‘irreversible brain damage’ she suffered.
Willis, 27, went into a coma following a cardiac arrest at the Summit Malibu rehab facility in 2024, and ever since she woke up from it, has been in a vegetative state, where she’s at least able to track things with her eyes, smile, and become emotional during conversations.
Unfortunately, doctors aren’t anticipating any further improvement beyond that, and aren’t even 100% sure how Emily Willis ended up with ‘locked-in syndrome’ in the first place.

Doctors have been unable to determine the exact cause of what led to Emily’s cardiac arrest, especially since toxicology reports determined there were no drugs in her system. She was in rehab for ketamine addiction at the time, where she weighed just 100lbs (45kg!) when checking herself in. Even at 5’5, that is obviously a dangerously low weight and could suggest organ failure/cardiac arrest from malnourishment.
Fast forward to 2026, and a Los Angeles judge has ruled that Willis was the victim of a ‘horrendous breakdown in clinical care’ while attending the Summit Malibu rehab facility.
Her family alleged that her ‘health was ignored until it was too late’, and that she experienced symptoms such as dehydration, infection, and severe physical distress that were not properly addressed by staff.
When she had her heart attack, it took 30 to 40 minutes of CPR before a pulse returned. The likelihood is that the prolonged lack of oxygen led to irreversible brain damage, leaving Willis with severe paralysis and long-term disability.

After more than a year of court battles, the $3 million agreement was reached. Which you might say is insufficient for someone who is living a real-world nightmare; awake and conscious in a body without the ability to move or speak. But then no amount is ever going to make up for that really, is it?
For what it’s worth, the rehab facility denied any wrongdoing and even claimed that Willis ‘had refused to follow medical recommendations and take her medications’.
Either way, it seems the courts agree that staff could have done more to prevent this tragedy. Unless there’s a miracle on the cards, it really does sound like Emily Willis will be confined to a vegetative state for the rest of her life. Maybe some genius will come up with a cure in the future? Here’s hoping.
