Ann Widdecombe Murder Suspect Identified As 28-Year-Old Joshua Kerry

The man arrested on suspicion of murdering Ann Widdecombe has been identified by the Daily Mail as 28-year-old Joshua Kerry.

Here’s what we know about Joshua:

  • Lived alone in a council house in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, since the death of his father last year.
  • Had a job at a lift factory, but quit after his dad died.
  • His family is well-known on the Kimberworth Park estate, with several members having served in the military.
  • His dad Paul Yates, a ‘highly intelligent’ former steel industry research engineer, stopped working after losing a leg and was diagnosed with stomach cancer in his 60s.

Aside from that, Joshua Kerry was described as a ‘loner’, ‘quiet’ and ‘very shy’ by neighbours who have spoken to the media in the last week. Which always seems to be what neighbours say when something like this happens.

His own uncle recalled this week: ‘Joshua was such a quiet boy. Gentle and polite.

‘I used to go around when they were all little, and the eldest two used to be playfighting, rolling about on the floor, and Joshua would just be sat in the corner, watching them.’

For what it’s worth, someone by the name ‘Joshua Kerry’ signed an open letter for Your Party in 2025 (signature 1505), which expressed ‘desire to see a mass left party transform our society for the better.’

Joshua was seen on CCTV getting into his car on the morning of the day that Ann Widdecombe was murdered, with a weapon protruding from his shorts. He drove nearly 300 miles from Rotherham to Ann’s bungalow in Haytor Vale, Devon, where he is believed to have killed the former Tory MP in her home, then returned home.

He was also seen taking the bins out three days later.

Meanwhile, the Aberdeen University worker who celebrated Ann Widdecombe’s death online has been arrested and charged by police. Is that actually illegal?
