Raise The Colours Founder Billy Allison Charged With Murder Of Bar Owner
Billy Allison, the original founder of flag-flying campaign group Raise the Colours, has been charged with murder and GBH with intent after a man was badly beaten up in a bar in Lichfield, Staffordshire, last Sunday.
Matt O’Gara, a well-known local businessman and co-owner/partner of The Plough pub in Huddlesford, died in hospital three days after being punched in the Ricco and Loren bar in Market Street.
Billy Allison, 36, from Solihull, was arrested on Monday.
Allison is a founding member of Raise the Colours and Operation Stop The Boats, a nationalist movement that crowdfunds so activists can go around putting up Chinese-made Union Jacks and the St George’s Cross flags across UK town centres.
Here he is with his flag-shagging chums…
Allison appeared before Judge Avik Mukherjee (unlucky) for his hearing today (Thursday), and will next appear in court in September for a plea and trial preparation hearing and will be remanded into custody.
The family of Matt O’Gara (below) said they will ‘never get over his death.’

His mum said: ‘My beautiful son taken away from us so suddenly. Dad and me will never get over this. You were too young to leave us. Forever in our hearts.’
A second victim was also assaulted at the scene and was taken to hospital but was later discharged.
We’ve got to be real here – there seem to be a lot of wrong ‘uns associated with Raise The Colours and Operation Stop The Boats, particularly in the leadership group. Just the other week, another co-founder, Ryan Bridge, was arrested after allegedly running a man over in Birmingham.
Another founding member, Andrew Currien (calling himself Andy Saxon for some reason) served prison time for the killing of a black man in 2009.
These aren’t exactly what you would call salt of the earth people, are they? Certainly not people you would want leading a movement that you’re a part of. Let’s hope the judge throws the book at him.
RIP Matt O’Gara and thoughts with his friends and family.
