Man Claims A Palestinian-Owned Restaurant Refused Him Service, CCTV Proves Otherwise
An influencer named Matan Mazalian posted a video the other week caiming he was kicked out of Palestinian-owned restaurant Oasis in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, for wearing a Star of David necklace.
Just one problem with that – CCTV footage from outside the restaurant shows he never actually entered the building, and just loitered around outside for a bit:
@oasis.of.williamsburg1 We would like to address a recent claim circulating about our business. We take matters like this very seriously. After reviewing our security footage, we can confirm that the individual in question did not enter our establishment, and the claim being made is not accurate. Our business has proudly been Palestinian-owned and operated for over 25 years. Throughout that time, we have remained committed to creating a welcoming, respectful environment for everyone. We do not tolerate antisemitism, racism, or discrimination of any kind. We wholeheartedly welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of religion, gender, or identity. Our values are rooted in respect, inclusivity, and community. We appreciate the continued support of our customers and community, and we remain committed to upholding these principles every day. #NYC #Brooklyn #OasisofWilliamsburg ♬ original sound – Oasis of Williamsburg
After the restaurant’s evidence went viral, Matan Mazalian first deleted his video, and then deleted all his social media accounts. The shame!
Imagine trying to cancel a family-owned restaurant that’s been around for 25 years using a blatant lie? That’s a defamation case, surely. Unfortunately for this plonker, he forgot that CCTV exists, but the idea that the restaurant suffered even a little bit of reputational damage from his lies is still fairly annoying.
Hopefully the opposite happens and they get way more business thanks to the way they easily shut this grifter’s false allegation down. The guy needs a full on face transplant and name change if he ever wants to be taken seriously on the internet again. Nothing worse than a fake victim.
