BBC News Interviewer Responds After Being Accused Of ‘Hissing’ At Rapper’s ‘Jesus Christ’ Comment
Really daft situation this week as a BBC News reporter was accused of ‘hissing’ when the rapper she was interviewing said his biggest hero was ‘Jesus Christ’.
Have a listen and see what you think:
Geeta Guru-Murthy: “Who are your heroes?”
DC3: “Santan Dave, Kendrick Lamar, most of all Jesus Christ.”
Guru-Murthy: “[makes sound]… Well, it’s lovely to meet you.”
A harmless, sharp inhale before she moved onto the next segment? Or a non-Christian BBC employee “hissing” at the mention of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ? Well, the latter according to the perpetually paranoid outrage seekers on X.
Guru-Murthy has since responded to the accusation and claims she was simply breathing in:
“I’ve seen there’s some discussion about the end of my interview with DC3 this week. For the record, I was simply breathing in before moving to end the interview.”
That does seem far more plausible, to be fair. Crazy that she even had to issue a statement about it, but these are the times we’re living in. Hopefully that’s the end of that.
