Terrible news for anyone who was expecting to play GTA VI before the end of the year – the game has now officially been delayed until May 26 2026. Over a year away!

Rockstar Games broke the devastating news on their socials earlier:

Brutal stuff. Couldn’t they at least release a new trailer or a few screenshots to soften the blow?

In fairness to Rockstar Games, they are trying to make the greatest video game of all time here and if it’s going to meet or even surpass expectations, they’ve got to take their take with it to ensure that GTA VI is absolutely perfect, which it no doubt will be given their track record with games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V. Which, unless I’m mistaken, were also delayed because they needed more time to make the games into the masterpieces they turned out to be.

Even still, I don’t think anyone would have ever dreamed it would take 13 years to make the move from GTA V to GTA VI, but that just goes to show the scope of the game they’re working on.

On the bright side, we won’t need to hear any more conspiracy theories about the release date anymore. Let the countdown begin…

P.S. In the meantime, we do have this zombie apocalypse game set in Birmingham to look forward to.
