Phil & Holly are still feeling the backlash from ‘queue-gate‘, with 80,000 people now having signed the petition to get them kicked off TV for using their celebrity privilege to skip the queue at the Queen’s funeral (in addition to other slip-ups the pair have been a part of this year).

While it was not really audible on TV, reports from the audience at Wembley’s OVO Arena suggest the presenters were roundly booed at the National TV Awards last night – first when their nomination was called out for Best Morning TV show, and then again when they took to the stage as the winners. I think I can hear some booing in the footage below, but there are suggestions that producers used the fact the show was aired on a 20-second delay to pipe in fake cheers and applause for the audience at home.

Tellingly, when you head to the comment section of that YouTube video…

Here’s a report from someone who was in the crowd at the event:

Given all the negative sentiment around these two in the last few weeks, it’s actually a shocker they managed to win the award for Best Morning TV show. Were the votes cast months ago or something? Are the winners predetermined by TV show bosses? Are Alison Hammond, Dermot O’Leary and Rochelle Hughes just so likeable that it swung the vote? I’m not sure, but it doesn’t seem like Phil & Holly are going anywhere for the time being. Front of the queue again!
