Dad ‘Gobsmacked’ After Just Eat Rider Leaves £45 KFC Order In The Bin

Outrageous move by a Just Eat rider in Fleetwood, Lancashire, as he left a family’s £45 KFC order in the bin rather than just leaving it at the door like a normal person.

Rob Taylor had ordered a KFC meal for himself, his wife, and their three young daughters on 28 March, and were looking forward to a succulent chicken feast.

Rob got a notification that the food has been delivered, which was weird, as he hadn’t heard a knock at the door or received any phone call.

He looked out the window and saw the driver getting back into his car. He opened the door and asked where the food was, and as the rider rode off, he replied: “I’ve put it in the bin”.

Sure enough, CCTV footage showed him doing just that:

Absolute maniac.

Rob says: ‘I looked out the window and said, “That’s my order”, and he [the driver] said, “I’ve put it in the bin.”

‘I was just stood there thinking, “‘”Did that really just happen?”

‘I was gobsmacked. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.’

Given the circumstances, Rob decided the food was not fit for consumption and instead drove out and bought his family some McDonald’s instead.

Just Eat said its delivery driver had tried to contact Rob eight times, including by seven phone calls and a via a message on the app, to no avail.

It also claimed the driver was stood outside their house for 20 minutes, so it’s pretty weird that he wasn’t able to get the family’s attention.

Rob admitted he had some missed calls but insisted this did not justify the rider’s reaction. Which is a fair point. I mean, I sympathise with the rider having to wait outside, but on what planet is the best solution to put the food order in the general waste bin? It just makes no sense.

A Just Eat spokesperson said that drivers are advised to drop off food in a ‘safe place’ in the event there is no response at a property. Which, again, probably isn’t the black bin.

Just Eat says: ‘We are in touch with the customer to discuss their experience further.’

Hope the Maccies was a good substitute, Rob. Never know what you might find in your KFC these days.
