Weirdest Planets - WASP-12b

Well WASP-12b has the coolest name, but it has some of the hottest temperatures. WASP-12b flies pretty close to its home star which produces surface temperatures of 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit (2,200 degrees Celsius).

This gas giant is about 1.5 times the size of Jupiter and sits 870 light years from terra firma. Scientists reckon the exoplanet could be pushing a shock wave – called a bow shock – ahead of it as it plows through a supersonic headwind while orbiting its star. Similar to the shock wave ahead of a supersonic aircraft. Amazing.

Like I said at the start of the article though, earth is probably still the weirdest planet. After all, it’s only on earth that you’ll find human beings making themselves look like demons and dancing about on whale carcasses for a laugh. You won’t find that on H1##GTrTr109 will you?
